Geocache Description:

From this location, if you look 100 metres to the north, you will see a red brick building that was once the Main Lead Hotel. (It is now a private residence).

This is one of only two remaining hotels from the gold rush days of the 1850s (the other one is out at Chute). It is now a private residence, and the owner is aware of the cache.

Gold was discovered around here in 1854, and you can see evidence of the diggings all along this road.  The big rush did not last for long, but at its height, there were tens of thousands of miners out here.  It is hard to imagine that this road was lined with hotels, services and businesses.

Cache contains logbook only, so BYO pen.
