Geocache Description:

This post used to hold the Kittanning path marker for a short while. In 1974 the "new" route 403 was completed which realigned part of state route 1014 (the road to Diamondville). So the sign couldn't have been here before 1974 & was probably taken down within a few years after the boy scouts placed their memorial down the road in 1976. When I was a youngster I would pass by this marker practically every Sunday afternoon on my way to visit my grandparents. I even remeber on one occasion a group of hikers with backpacks on standing at this spot. Was there a trail here that went into the woods? I doubt it ... It more than likely followed the road. I have no idea who placed the sign or whatever became of it, but surprisingly the old weathered mounting brackets remain.
