Geocache Description:

Cache is magnetic key holder with a few small trade items. There are other caches nearby so enjoy your trip to Reno land.

Wilkinson Reno, father of the infamous Reno Brothers Gang, was born at Salt River, Kentucky, in 1802. He moved with his parents, the James Renos of French descent, to Jackson County, Indiana, in 1813. The land on which James Reno had brought his family was still Indian Territory. The land was rich virgin bottom land along White River just north of what would become Seymour and extended to what would become Rockford. In 1835 Wilkinson married Julia Ann Fryhoofer(Freyhaffer) and they had 6 children, 5 boys and a girl. Four of these sons would become the 'infamous Reno Brothers'. The Reno family was wealthy by local standards with Wilkinson owning 1150 acres of prime farmland. He was the largest land owner and tax payer in Jackson County by the time his last child, Laura was born in 1851. The homestead was located on the sandy knolls that are now part of the Chateau de Pique Winery and the bottomlands stretches downward to the White River.
