There are some interesting headstones here, and one of them belongs to Thomas Ayson. Thomas came out from Scotland with is parents in the sailing ship Southern Cross and arrived in Port Chalmers on 26 February 1856. He grew up to be one of the great pioneers around the Wyndham district and was buried in the Wyndham Cemetery at the age of 87 years. Thomas's mother, father and some of his nine children are also buried here.;
Another headstone you could have a look for is that of Dr James Alexander Menzies, a surgeon from England who sailed in to Otago Harbour in 1854 and became one of the earliest settlers in Southland. When the new province of Southland was proclaimed in 1961, Dr Menzies became the first Superintendent. He donated land which became the beginning of Wyndham. Dr James Menzies died on 18 August 1888.;
For this geocache, you are looking for a 3L bucket containing a log book, pencil and some swaps. There is room for trackables. Please take the time to replace the container to ensure it isn't visible.
