Out on another geocaching expedition to north/central Kansas & south/central Nebraska. As many times as I have driven east/west on US Hwy 36 west of Washington, KS, I have always noticed this cemetery but never stopped to look around. Also, always thought that a geocache placed here would bring a little more geo-tourism to the region.
After realizing that nothing has been placed here, decided to stop and explore. Nice little place. Found a likely spot for a cache, though overhead cover may affect satellite readings, apps, cell phones, etc. - you have been warned.
Did not see any signs around with the name of this cemetery on it, so made something up. Local geocachers probably know the name to this site.
To get to this cemetery, travel east/west on US Hwy 36 between the towns of Washington/Haddam, KS. When you reach the intersection with National Road, turn south. Cemetery will be on southeast corner of intersection. Entrance to cemetery is a few yards from intersection. Cemetery will be on east side of National Road. However, beware of the rather large puddle that is there to welcome you to this site - it is center-mass of entranceway but can be easily driven around.
While exploring the cemetery, noticed some burned-up tree truncks and such. If the massive fog was still in the area when I placed thic cache, then this just may have been a spookier experience, but the fog burned off by then.
Background coloration may help hide this cache, especially in warmer weather months. Placed cache and forgot to place something inside. Went back to place item inside and quickly lost sight of container - took a few minutes to find. D/T ratings are more for when vegetation dominates the area during warm weather months - so all you "D/T experts" hush up. May be considered a P&G, depending on how good/quick you are. In order to not damage the hiding area, PLEASE approach from the east side - there is a large enough opening to enter.
Remember that this is a cemetery and please observe any/all rules/regulations that you may observe and that we all have read on other page write-ups concerning thiese types of locations.
UPDATE: May 31, 2015 - Visited site and replaced missing container/log. Original container was a popsicle maker in the shape of a Crayola Crayon. You will be searching for a good sized PILL BOTTLE - camoed, of course.
