Geocache Description:

A Cosmic Walk NIGHTcache

***PLEASE RESPECT THE HOURS OF 6AM TO 10PM TO FIND THIS CACHE.*** Please enjoy this area and take the time to enjoy all of it's beauty, especially on the walk that this cache takes you on.

**Unfortunatly, there has been some vandalism along the Cosmic Walk and some of the signs have been either taken or destroyed. Prairiewoods is hoping that our new foot traffic will help with keeping this sort of vandalism down. If you do happen to see anything or anybody acting suspicious, please notify the staff.**

In order to find the final of this cache, your will need a flashlight that shines fairly brightly. Starting at the trailhead cords for the Cosmic Walk (N42 02.949 W091.40.134), shine your flashlight towards the Cosmic Walk sign. You will see a series of 2 fire tacks. This will be your starting point.

As you make your way along the trail, keep your flashlight about shoulder high and scan the area around you. Every so often your flashlight should hit on a fire tack that should look similar to this...

Keep following the fire track trail until you see a location that contains 3 tacks. This will be VERY close to GZ and you should be able to shine your light and find the cache once at this location.

The New Universe Story has been inspirational in the foundation and development of Prairiewoods. The story tells us so much about the Divine, about ourselves and our role on Earth, and about the sacredness of all Creation. This is a story emerging in theological and scientific circles, telling us that the Original Fireball contained all that exists today. This is the source of all, coming from the heart of Divine Mystery. As theologian Elizabeth Johnson tells this story, “About 15 billion years ago a single numinous speck exploded in an outpouring of matter and energy, shaping a universe that is still expanding.” This burst of matter and energy brought forth over 100 billion galaxies, our planetary system, Earth and all the creatures on it. In this universe, everything is connected to everything else. We have all evolved from common ancestors and are kin.

We believe that the Creator Spirit remains present within this Universe, guiding the ongoing evolutionary process from within. This leads us to accept the importance of human beings, realizing that we are part of the mystery of the universe, but not the lords of creation. Our role is to be partners with God in protecting and honoring the sacredness of our home.
Prairiewoods is dedicated to the effort to bring our Christian Story and the scientific Story of the Universe into one story that will give greater meaning and purpose to life. We hope to make the integration of care of the Earth an integral part of the human spiritual journey.

Special thanks to Rodney Bluml, Spiritual Director and Program Coordinator, Prairiewoods Franciscan Retreat Center, and the rest of the staff for allow this cache to be placed.
