[EN] The evangelical church’s architecture displays numerous characteristics of the Romanesque basilicas in the Sibiu area: a compact central nave, Gothic ribbed cross vaults at the side aisles, arcades with round arches resting on square pillars and arched windows at the clerestory, all dating back to the 13th Century, same as the apsidal of the southern side aisle. The chancel was modified during the 15th Century, when the pointed windows, the rib vault and a defence level were added. The defence wall was built in the same time and still features a small chapel on the eastern side. The penetrated barrel vault on transverse arches in the central nave was built in the 18th Century. The interior preserves the 18th-19th Century pew and the paintings, which were restored in 1988.
[RO] Biserica Evanghelică din Gușterița a fost inițial o bazilică romanică cu trei nave, construită la începutul secolului al XIII-lea, cu cinci travee, absidiole în dreptul navelor laterale și o absidă mare, precedată de un cor în dreptul navei principale. La sfârșitul secolului al XV-lea biserica s-a transformat, corul fiind reboltit pe nervuri în cruce. Pe exterior s-au construit contraforți și s-au montat ferestre gotice. Arcul triumfal romanic dintre cor și nava centrală, a fost înlocuit cu un arc ogival, iar tavanul romanic al navei a fost înlocuit cu o boltă gotică. Turnul - clopotniță a fost clădit în 1742, ultimele etaje fiind amenajate cu galerii de luptă.
Alături de biserică, spre sud-est, se află o capelă gotică din secolul al XV-lea, cu cor poligonal şi contraforturi.
Biserica este înconjurată cu o incintă de fortificaţie ( datând din secolul al XIV-lea) de formă ovală, fără turnuri de apărare, parţial demolată în sud pentru construirea unei şcoli.

[DE] Kirchenburg Hammersdorf: Das heute als Vorort der Stadt einverleibte, nur durch den Zibin von Sibiu / Hermannstadt getrennte Gusterita / Hammersdorf hat seine auf einer Anhöhe inmitten der Gemeinde gelegene Basilika bewahrt, die zu den ältesten romanischen Bauten zählt, da sie vom Anfang des 13. Jh. stammt. Von der ursprünglich turmlosen Anlage sind nur die Rundbogenarkaden des Mittelschiffs erhalten. Das zugemauerte Rundbogenportal erinnert an Michelsberg, ehenso die Spuren einstiger Aussenbemalung. Um 1500 erfolgte der gotische Umbau des Chores, die alte Rundbogenapsis ersetzt ein poligonaler Chor, mit Strebepfeilern abgestützt. Bei den Tatareneinfällen von 1658 und 1661 erlitt der Bau weitgehende Zerstörungen. 1742 wurde der Glockenturm an die Westfront des Mittelschiffs gesetzt und gliedert sich dem harmonischen Erscheinungsbild der Basilika gut ein. Innerhalb der einfachen Ringmauer steht noch ein gotisches Kapellchen des 15. Jh. (Juliana Fabritius)
[HU] Szenterzsébet (románul: Gușterița, németül Hammersdorf) egykor önálló település volt, ma Nagyszeben városrésze. Evangélikus temploma eredetileg háromhajós bazilikaként épült a 13. század elején. A 15. század végén kezdték átalakítani. Kerítőfala a 15. századból, azon belül a gótikus kápolna a 15. századból való. Tornya 1742-ben épült.
