One of my favorite things to do in the fall is fish. My favorite fish to catch is the Red Drum, more commonly known as the Redfish. My wife (bangalee) and I pull our boat down to Delacroix as often as possible during the fall to do battle with these fierce fighters. They can get huge and put up alot of fight when hooked. In slang terminology, the really big ones are called "Bull Reds" and the smaller ones are called "Rat Reds". Not only are they fun to catch, they're highly regarded as extremely tasty table fare, whether blackened in a cast iron skillet, grilled, or baked.
They're usually found in coastal salt water but occasionally migrate further inland through rivers and bayous. One day while walking around this beautiful park at which I eat lunch regularly, I found one! Ok, it's just an artist's depiction (sort-of), but I thought it would be a good spot to place this cache.
The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the winter and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer so this cache is not available at night.
Exactly one week prior to placing the cache, we had a pretty successful trip and were able to land 8 of these beauties. Here's a pic of yours truly with one of that day's haul:
