Geocache Description:

This is an easy Park and Grab across from what used to be a very popular place to stop and eat when I was in High School.

Congratulations kinneykrew for the FTF!

Mac's Place was a bustling place when I was in High School in the early 60's. I would hitch hike here from Glide High School after school for dinner when we had home games, and I didn't have time to go home to Steamboat. Mac's Place was built in the 1930's by Nobel "Mac" McMillan on their homestead. Harry and Lavola (McMillan) Bakken ran the restaurant while I was growing up. During my high school years this was a great place to eat at all hours of the day. They had delicious hamburgers, soft ice cream, and home made pie. Many of the high school girls worked there as waitresses. Harry had a weekly grocery route to Toketee and Big Camus in the 1950's. The road in those days was a narrow dirt road from Susan Creek to Toketee and Big Camus. You can stlll see parts of the old road near Dry Creek.  In those days, it was an all day trip to travel to Toketee,  Big Camus and back.  My father, Frank Moore, took over the route when he bought Steamboat Inn in 1957.

Mac's Place has been closed for about 30 years. It is really sad to see how it looks now compared to what I remember it being like when I was in High School.

If you are a fisherman, there is a very good fishing hole right below the cache.
