How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Multi stage cache that visits an old sandstone quarry. Posted coordinates take you to what was the conveyor for the quarry to bring stone down the hillside. I was nice enough to have you walk up it. We did it, so can you.

Please be careful though as its a pretty steep and long slope. Locals will know easier ways such as the horse trail and you're more than welcome to use it, whats the fun in that though. Imagine working on the hillside where the conveyor was as you climb the hill.

Once at the top find the information markers at the waypoints to get the needed information to get to the cache location.

To get the final location replace A, B, and C below with your answers from the questions. All answers can be found at the information boards (waypoints)

Final Location = N41 29.AB1   W078 59.4C1

The quarry was in operation from the years 1914-19B6

ADD the number of total tonnage from the MAIN PIT together and replace A

Take the SECOND number in your elevation while standing at the information sign for the dynamite cave (N41 29.910 W078 59.523) and replace C

!!!WARNING!!! THE ROAD TO THE CACHE IS A DIRT ROAD AND IS NOT MAINTAINED IN THE WINTER MONTHS AND CAN BE MUDDY AFTER A GOOD RAIN. PLEASE USE CAUTION!!

PLEASE WEAR ORANGE DURING HUNTING SEASONS!!! A basic safety orange vest can be found in the hunting section of your local store for around $7.

FTF gets a unactivated multi stage geocoin. There's a few other goodies also so bring some friends and enjoy your hike.
