This cache has been archived.

Kirk F: Looks like everyone that attended has now logged. Thanks again for coming to Galena on the not so nice day. Hope for good weather in February.

Feb 22 is Washington's Birthday. Great day to get together at Happy Joe's.

I already have plans for some new caches and great door prizes.

Hope to see you all there!!

Geocache Description:

Schedule:
10:00 AM Assemble
10:20 AM Group Photo
10:30 AM Disperse

This is a FLASH MOB. Please feel free to arrive at the posted coordinates before 10:00 AM.

Now that the mosquitoes are gone it is safe to go near the Galena River. Come join the Mob, see old friends and make new ones.

This is a Flash Mob at the trail head of the Galena River Trail.  It will be held right in the Depot Parking Lot under the Hwy 20 Bridge. Entrance to the lot is from Bouthillier Street next to the old Train Depot.

The Galena River Trail begins in beautiful Galena and follows the Galena River to Galena Junction. The trail is hard packed crushed rock on a former railroad right of way. A few years ago parts of the trail were washed out in a Flash Flood. Good place for a Flash Mob now. The trail has been restored and extended east from Galena to Buehler's Preserve. The City is now working on extending the trail south to hook up with the trails going to the Quad Cities.

The trail is beautiful this time of year. With the foliage gone the topography is highly visible and there are several sweeping views of the river. The abandoned locks should be visible too.

The location of the background picture is right off the trail. At least one Galena General will be attending the Flash Mob.

There is an alternate parking lot for the east section of the trail. I have added the east parking coordinates.

The 10 AM starting time will allow time for travel and possibly finding some caches before and after the event.

This should be a fun time. If the weather cooperates it will be even better.

See you all there!

Kirk
