Candyland is a simple racing board game. This game requires no reading and minimal counting skills, making it suitable for young children.
The race is woven around a storyline about finding King Kandy, the lost king of Candyland. The board consists of a winding, linear track made of 134 spaces, most red, green, blue, yellow, orange, or purple.
The game was designed in 1945 by Eleanor Abbott, while she was recovering from polio in San Diego, California.
Candyland led the list for the most popular toys in the 40's decade. In 2005, the game was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong in Rochester, New York.
