Geocache Description:

This cache is listed as number 10 on the Drew’s Geocache Birthday Bash Bookmark.

***UPDATE 1/18/2023 Cache will be relocated on the property spring of 2023. IF schedules and weather permit and it is done sooner an update will be posted immediately. We're excited to get this up and running again but responsibilities are priority. Being a grown up is hard. :) As always, we will restock with kindness kits when we get it going again! We appreciate your patience. **This cache will be located ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FENCED FRONT YARD. You are not required to enter the gate or fence, as it is accessible from the outside of the fence only. RESTOCKED with lots of SWAG! Hopefully the third time is a charm. Replacement container #3 after first two were stolen. PLEASE USE STEALTH to keep the location hidden. Surprisingly, this is a fairly high traffic area. The box is now black and masked by leaves so muggles do not notice and steal again. ...Drew was very excited to place his very own geocache in honor of his 7th birthday (November 2, 2014).  This cache is listed as number 10 on the Drew’s Geocache Birthday Bash Bookmark.  The first nine geocache in the bookmark are located at the OSU Botanical Garden.  You can find the complete list of kid friendly cache we used to celebrate and introduce eight of our friends to geocaching by searching for this bookmark:  Drew's Geocache Birthday Bash 7.  Thank you to our friends Henry, Melissa, Zoe, Jullian, Sam, William, Alivia and Joshua for making Drew’s birthday, in his words, “the best day of my life!” ...

Since you’re here we’ll share a little about the area.  This land was part of an original 200 acre tract from the Oklahoma Land Run.  According to the abstract, this house, located at 202 E Maple Ave, was built in 1909 for a local banker and his wife. They moved before it was complete.  The house was built by Charles W. Smith, an architecture professor at the University.  “C.W.S.  7/17/09,” is stamped in the wood trim in two rooms in the home.  Back then one could see the OSU campus from the front yard of this house.  This house, the Abercrombie house three blocks south (now Community Escrow and Title {which also has a geocache}) and the gray house just east on Lowry, were the only houses in this area at the time.  Back then there was nothing but railroad track and pastureland behind Lowry.   The neighborhood began to grow as several more houses were built in the early 1930’s.  Business owners and bankers who worked downtown made their home here so they could be within walking distance to work.

The house is now a vacation rental property. The house is also available for event and day rentals. See the inside by viewing on Airbnb and VRBO. THIS GEOCACHE IS FEATURED ON RIDER RACCOON'S FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM PAGE! Follow Rider on his adventures - books coming soon!

We’ve left a shiny silver compass as our FTF award and enough SWAG to make your head spin!  A tracker bug is waiting for the first cacher who can move him along!

CONGRATS TO becca.l.gordon FOR FIRST TO FIND!!! Thank you for being the first to find Drew's cache!!!

Adventure is out there!  Happy Hunting!
