Your chances of hearing a kokako are highest when you visit at dawn. The Kaharoa Kokako population has been known to be less vocal but you do have a good chance of seeing one at other times thanks to the ongoing work of the Kokako trust. The bush was sounding wondeful as these caches were placed! Do not stray from the path and take care on the track - there are exposed roots.
