Geocache Description:

This geocache is located in the Mason Nature Area.  The Keweenaw Land Trust owns and manages this small, 1-acre nature area within the City of Houghton.  Created through a bequest by the late Marilyn Mason, the Mason Nature Area (http://keweenawlandtrust.org/special-mason.php) may be small but it contains a good portion of the Scales Creek Lava Flow.   This ancient geological feature is prominent in this area and serves as a great location for a short hike for local residents.

The cache is a small 4 cup tupperware container camouflaged to fit in with the surroundings.  Inside are a logbook and a pencil to record your visit, along with some room for small trade items.  Please refrain from leaving anything perishable in the cache and remember to rehide it like you found it.
