VEGAS JACKPOT ART CACHE aka FIRST STREET ART TRAIL
You’ve discovered part of two worldwide games, one dedicated to GPS (Global Positioning System) users, called Geocaching (or in this case, ARTCACHING) and the other Letterboxing. Geocaching involves a GPS user hiding "a cache" (this container and its contents), and publishing the exact coordinates so other GPS users can come on a "treasure hunt" to find it. In Letterboxing, users follow a set of clues to locate the box that contains a logbook and a unique rubber stamp. The user stamps the box’s stamp in the personal logbook they carry, and stamps the box’s logbook with their personal stamp to show that they visited.
This “art” cache is part of a City of Las Vegas project titled First Street Art Trail, which is bringing art enhancements to the renewal of First Street. This project was organized by the City of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs and funded by the City of Las Vegas Public Works Department.
There are a total of four boxes, however, two are noted as letterbox only. Have fun!
