Geocache Description:

A traditional cache of medium size near the A65 and the River Aire in Gargrave

The River Aire flows through the village of Gargrave.  To cross the river there are three choices- the bridge, stepping stones upstream of the bridge and stepping stones downstream from the bridge.  However, there are remains of an old ford here, which would date back beofre the the bridge was built.  I so far have not found any other information about this ford and I would like to know more.  This cache was inspired by my children who enjoy play in the village and enjoy the summer months playing in the river.  It is a lovely village and has plenty of hikers and cyclists passing through.  This cache is conviently next to a parking place on the A65 near a public toilet block.  The cache is an easy find suitable for beginners or those wanting to do a cache and grab.  Rather than climbing over railings I recommend walking down stream to the gate on south street.  Enter the green (no dogs allowed) and find the cache.
