Geocache Description:

THIS IS NOT HIDDEN IN OR UNDER THE MARKER. This is a Mullan Road marker geocache. Mullan's Military Road was traveled by wagon, pack trains, and even camels from Walla Walla to Fort Benton. Travelers started at either end, and typically stopped somewhere in between.

In Mullan's 'road guide' , Day 8 had the traveler "Move to Lagoon camp; distance, twenty-one and a Half miles; good road; wood, water, and grass at camp." This forgotton historical marker is on the old HW 23 (now called Hardy Rd) and placed by the citizens in nearby Lamont.

Container is a very small lock n' lock. You do not need to disassemble the marker or cross any fences to find it.

To continue traveling near the old route, head SE up Hardy, turn left on Hardy Road Cutoff, and then continue a bit down Dewey Road. Take a left on Swift and head to Cree Rd to return to the paved Martin Road. This route may not be suitable for some vehicles. You can't get lost, you have a GPS, don't you?
