Kilmagad Wood is a Woodland Trust owned property on the slopes of Bishop Hill. The young trees on the hillside were planted by the Woodland Trust with the help of locals, especially local children, and are all native to the area.
The new path along the edge of this new wood also creates a safe green route for children to walk to school
As well as a popular dog walking area Kilmagad Wood also promotes local wildlife. It is a broadleaf woodland interspersed with open ground. An ideal habitat for foxes, rabbit and deer as well as numerous birds; sycamore, beech and oak make up the main tree species. Wood sorrel and bluebell can be seen in season.
