Here in Blighty we all know that talking about 12/13/14 is just not on....
but as we geocachers have had to get used to the American date system...
here's the reward.....
Coaley Peak is picnic site and viewpoint situated at the edge of the Cotwold escarpment and along the Cotswold Way.
Sunsets here can be truly spectacular as the view towards the West is one of the finest in the Cotswolds.
The event is not really intended as a flash mob event but, weather permitting, let's aim for
a team photo at 15.16 hrs and 17 seconds !
No games or quizzes...just sign the logbook for entry into
a draw for a special geocoin (currently on order!)
and, with a bit of luck, a souvenir for your profile page!
Unless it's pouring with rain, blowing a gale or snowing I will be at a picnic table at GZ between 14.30 and 16.30 with coffee and tea supplies and a few mince pies if you are lucky possibly even with the kettle on (a barbecue) Bring your own winter picnic if you feel so inclined!
If it IS pouring with rain, blowing a gale or snowing, I will still be there with logbook, geocoin prize (and a few mince pies...if you are lucky!) but possibly car-bound....one never knows in Blighty
The sun will set at 16.00, not long after our special moment, so if the weather conditions are kind we could be in for a treat
As well as the view (weather permitting), there is a neolithic burial chamber, the Nympsfield Long Barrow, to admire at GZ and some really good caches close by.
These include excellent puzzle caches, GC267JH and GC446E2, and the superb night cache at another nearby burial chamber, Hetty Peglar's Tump GC4WZ8H
Looks like I'm going to be able to get some of commerative Flash Mob 12-13-14 geocoins from the USA. The design will be as illustrated below. Would anyone like to reserve one? Please let me know as soon as you can.
By the way, credit is due to The Blorenges for inspiring this copycat cache by way of their GC4PBHV "11-12-13-14-15-16 Foxhunter Flask Flash" event which I very much enjoyed in 2013
So, to sum up à Bl'orenge.....come and celebrate the notable date and time, an event on Saturday 13th December, at 15:16 hrs (not forgetting the 17 seconds. Precision is everything!)
