Honouring the Mississaugas: Chi-twaa Tigaanes (Sacred Garden)
On Sunday, November 9, 2014 the commemorative Sacred Garden (Chi-twaa Tigaanes), honouring the Mississaugas of the Credit and the Credit Mission Village on Mississauga Road was unveiled.
For thousands of years, Native peoples have travelled the Credit River Valley. They lived lightly on the land and left little evidence behind to remind us of their presence. This garden is dedicated to the memory of Our First Nation Ancestors who once lived on this sacred ground. The garden is located on part of what was the Credit Mission Village site, which was home to the Mississaugas of the Credit River circa 1826 to 1847.
The ceremony included an official opening by Elder Garry Sault.
This is a simple 2 stage multi. There are several signs here telling you about the history of the area. Find the picture entitled "Spear Fishing From A Canoe" on one of these signs. A = # of people sitting in the canoe. B = # of people standing in the canoe. In the center garden is a number of rocks. C = # of rocks in the center garden.
Multiply A x B x C and add the result to the decimal minutes of both the North and West of the following meaningless coordinates to get the location of the cache. N43 32.878 W79 37.484. Final is closeby within walking distance.
