Bicentenial Park was created with the assistance of Government funding to mark the (ABC)th anniversary of European settlement in (EFGH). The area of reclaimed land extended the forshore in front of the Federal and Jubilee Parks, and was owned by Maritime services Board and leased to timer companies including Vanderfield and Reid, Steetley Industries, National Plywood, Sydney Sawmilling and Standen Brothers/Smith Brothers. As these industries declined during the (IJKL)'s the community campaigned for waterfront parks and forshore walkways. Stage (V) of Bicentenial Park ( east of the canal) was opened in (MNOP) and Stage (Q) (west of the canal) opened in (RSTU).
