Dawn-Treader: With the weather we've been having, alas this one probably in the riverbed now! No time to replace, so archived it is.

Geocache Description:

Whether it's the flow of wine or the flow of rivers that interests you, this is a quick park and grab on your way to somewhere else.

Firstly there's the Cyprus Wine Museum, which explains the long history of the Vine on this little Island and is a useful source of information on the Wine Tasting Routes that go up into the Troodos from here.

Far more interesting to this Geology nut though is the river here... (sad, I know!). Once this would have been a raging torrent when Troodos released it's meltwaters in February. Stood here you would have been WAY underwater. As you go up the hill on the main road heading East you will notice the bank on your left is made of pebbles... that too was river bed it seems! This little bridge would have been useless back then, probably millenia ago.

These days, with a large dam upstream, water is rarely seen in this riverbed except in exceptionally wet winters when the dam overflows a little and a small stream develops.

Cache is a 600ml plastic jar, please wedge it back exactly as you found it, it gets pretty windy here but if it's jammed in well it'll hold, it's been here three weeks at least through some really stormy weather while I tested the location before publishing.
