Yehud is a city in the central district of Israel. The city was founded in the Dan tribe. The Arab called it YEHUD, as they preserved the name from the BIBLE. A later tradition attributed the name of the city in the tomb of Judah son of Jacob, which is found in the area. Yehud was first settled by Jewish population in the ruins of Arab Yehud, with immigrants from Turkish origin arriving on October 1948. In the 1950's immigrants from Yeman built Saadia st. The nearby Village Mosque with a minaret, now serves as synagogue SHALOM SHABAZI. In the war of Independence it was used as a lookout of the IRGUN.
