Geocache Description:

A friend and I discovered Geocaching while studying in Ensenada. We realized that there are few geocaches in the city, and most of them are close to the cruise ship. We decided to make our own and chose a place not even locals go to. The place has a beautiful view of the city, and it’s not far away from the most important landmarks of Ensenada. But we do recommend bringing comfortable shoes.

We decided it would be a great place to hide a geocache because of the statue which few visitors (and locals) get to see. It was donated by the government of Nepal as a demonstration of peace and friendship. The statue is a representation of the Buddhist goddess Tara, worshipped for compassion, long life, healing and serenity. It was built in 1992 in the very same hill it is located, but after some years the weather and vandalism destroyed most of it. Since 2010 a group of volunteers started working on the restoration of the fallen parts, painting and gardens. Now it’s as beautiful and colorful as new.

Ho to get there? Well, it's easier to start from the turist zone at downtown (Ruiz Avenue and 1st street, it's easy to get there, just ask for the Papas or the Hussong's). Walk straight up to the 12th street, turn left and walk two blocks, turn right and walk another block. There's a white building (the Universidad Vizcaya de las Américas). Passing the university, there's a little unpaved path, walk the path, and you'll find a little and serenous spot dedicated to Tara. Take a break and enjoy the view and peace of this place. To find the geocache stand in front of the statue, walk over the rustic bridge (be very careful not to fall) and look for it.

The cache is a little bottle with silver cap. BYOP.

Hope you like the view and get to know this forgotten place.
