Le Carrefour de la Guillotine
Le 28 août 1793, la guillotine marquait une pause au carrefour des routes départementales 341 et 916.
La machine à tuer ne s'est arrêtée que deux heures sur sa route vers Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise, mais le carrefour est resté "le carrefour de la guillotine ".
Histoire de la guillotine
Je ne peux que rappeler que son nom est à l'origine du fameux Dr GUILLOTIN.
Mais elle a failli s'appeler la "Louison", car le premier à inventer la fameuse "cravate à Capet" est le Dr LOUIS.
Le premier homme qui fut coupé en deux fut un bandit convaincu de vol avec violence sur la voie publique :
Nicolas-Jacques Pelletier.
Sa condamnation datait du 24 janvier 1792 : la peine ne fut exécutée que le 25 avril de la même année sur la place du Carrousel, par Charles Henri Sanson
La guillotine a eu plusieurs noms argotiques sous la révolution française.
En voici quelques uns :
" la cravate à Capet " " le glaive des lois "
" le vasistas " " le rasoir national "
" la planche à assignats " " la petite chatière "

On August 28th, 1793, the guillotine broke off momentarily in the crossroads of secondary roads 341 and 916.
The killing machine stopped only two hours on its road towards Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise, but the crossroads stayed " the crossroads of the guillotine ".
