Al di fuori delle mura storiche della cittadina, scorre placido il canale Bisatto, arteria commerciale in tempi in cui i commerci avvenivano tramite la navigazione interna. Dopo aver visitato le mille meraviglie del paese, si può uscire e costeggiare il canale. Vicini si trovano due ponti, completamente diversi, di due epoche storiche diverse. Il primo in pietra, ad arco, testimonia il passato medievale del borgo, l'altro, di chiaro stampo ingegneristico di fine '800, è uno splendido ponte girevole in carpenteria metallica chiodata. Ambedue proseguivano le strade che uscivano dalla città murata, attraverso le rispettive porte, demolite tutte durante l'800, in nome della modernità, per favorire la circolazione attraverso le mura.(le porte erano divenute anche luogo dove sbandati e persone poco raccomandabili trovavano rifugio). Attraversando "Porta pescheria" ci si trovava davanti al pote ad arco. (le strutture dell'antica pescheria oggi sono occupate da un bar; mentre osservando la breccia vicino alla torre civica si possono ancora notare i segni di dove sorgeva la porta). Il ponte metallico prosegue invece la direttrice che uscendo da "Porta Camin" porta alla stazione ferroviaria, allora simbolo di assoluta modernità e progresso. (Anche in questo caso, osservando il la breccia si nota facilmente dove si innestasse la porta, inoltre quello specifico tratto di mura è stato oggetto di un recente restauro, cercando di valorizzare quell'imenso patrimonio che rappresentano).
