Salmon are an important part in our area's historical past and are very important to the economic future of Puget Sound. Help keep our salmon runs healthy; creeks and rivers free of pollution. The mantra of Bert the Salmon: "Do you part to keep my home clean. Scoop your dog's poop (fecal ecoli). Don't drip (oil) n drive. Only rain down the (storm) drain."
Being Swedish and raised in a family that fished for salmon at every opportunity, not just for sport, I jumped on the chance to host this cache! Thus the name of this cache became "Lax and Capers." Lax pronounced "locks" and "caper" with 2 applications. One being the delicious salty tiny green bean, which is actually a flower seed pod, that's eaten with delicately smoked salmon, often served with a bagel and cream cheese. Hungry? You bet! Second application for "caper" - stealth is good in this geocache caper because muggles may be near by....
The previous cache in this location was named "bradan," which is Irish Gaelic for Salmon. Keeping in the traditon of an international name for salmon, the Swedish name for salmon, "Lax," now crowns this cache. Enjoy the park. Extra bonus - the plum tree in the park is loaded with delicious plums in the summer. :)
