Geocache Description:

This cache is to comemorate all the great events and people happening in this beautiful park that has a rich history.

It is best to visit the park between 07:00 and 17:00

PLEASE use stealth mode, especially on game days

Just a couple of facts about St George's Park:

It hosts the second oldest cricket club in South Africa
The first Cricket Test was played at St George's Park Cricket Ground
The first women's international cricket test was played here
The last test before South Africa's expulsion from world cricket happened at this ground
The first cricket test series win against Australia
The first rebel cricket test
With the resumption of "normal" cricket, South Africa's first cricket test victory happened here
St George's Cricket ground is the sixth oldest cricket ground in the world
South Africa's first rugby test was played at St Georges
The Port Elizabeth Bowls Club is the first bowling club in South Africa
South Africa's first inter-club bowling tournament was hosted here (Port Elizabeth vs Kimberley)
St George's is home to world-class cricket players such as Peter & Graeme Pollock (Graeme Pollock was voted cricketer of the century)
The St George's stadium started out on an open tract of veld alongside a cemetery on a hill outside the harbour town of Port Elizabeth
Today St George's Cricket Ground is a 18 500-seater world-class stadium, set in the beautiful grounds of St George's Park, slap bang in the middle of the city

On the day that I placed this cache, there were even a wheelchair tennis tournament happening on the tennis courts.
