The Al Bungard Conservation Area is named for former Chatham County Engineer Al Bungard. He was responsible for many projects that impact us daily; Truman Parkway, multiple flood/drainage mitigation projects, and this fine park.
Cache is a plastic ammo can full of toys suitable for children. Cache is hidden about 200 feet in the woods, not on the path. Approach should be fairly easy. The woods are open with remnants of previous logging efforts years ago (HINT!!). This stretch of woods is high enough that there should be no flooding or "wet feet" problems.
This conservation area is chock full of wildlife - take your time and stroll about, lots to see. While hiding this cache, spotted a number of different kinds of birds, multiple squirrels, saw deer tracks and evidence of wild hogs.
Remember, park hours are from 8:00 AM til 5:00 PM (a large gate gets locked).
