This geocache has been created for my geocaching partner, who celebrated his quarter century birthday on Christmas Eve! Geopartner is an intelligent astrophysicist, who I hope will enjoy my trail of caches and logical placement.
Antares - the street inspiration for this series is the 17th brightest star in the night sky. The brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius, distinctly red when viewed in the nighttime, Antares is one of the brightest most observable stars, and the fourth to complete this mini series!! Joining together with Aldebaran, Fomalhaut and Regulus, to form a special set of stars known as the Royal Stars of Persia. These stars are named as such as they are the brightest in each of their own constellations and once 'dominated the sky' by marking seasonal changes, equinoxes and solstices.
-The Area-
Located on Antares Cst in Giralang, a relatively quiet suburban street. I was very suprised by this area due to different locations of the walking track providing beautiful views of Canberra - if you don't mind the noise from the highway! Opposite the houses is an open reserve/large walking track area, and on the other side of that backs onto the Barton Highway. Stealth is required as muggles may be lurking from their kitchen windows or walking their dogs along the paths. Parking is limited, I suggest parking on the footpath outside the houses. PLEASE BE WARY OF SNAKES, there is some very long grass at a few of the cache points, and in Summer who knows what creatures are lurking.
-The Cache-
A small tupperware container, containing a notebook. Room for very small swaps, BYO pen/pencil.
