Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “ π ”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.141592653.....
Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. As an irrational and transcendental number, it continues infinitely without repetition or pattern. While only a handful of digits are needed for typical calculations, Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorize, and to computationally calculate more and more digits.
Pi Day, as authorized by the US Congress, has been observed in many ways, including eating pie, throwing pie, and discussing the significance of the number π. Coincidentally, Pi Day and Albert Einstein both share the holiday. His birthday is also on March 14.
All are welcome to attend – whether you are a new cacher or an old timer. It is good chance to put faces to geo-names, catch up with old friends, or get advice and hints for those tricky caches that you have on your list. You can bring travel bugs for discovery or trading, and there are usually a few to discover. Even if you don't have time to stay and eat, pop in and say hi! There might even be a few pies given away as door prizes.
When: Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 9:26:53 AM (3.141592653), we will be there about an hour, and plan to wrap up around 10:30.
