La commune :
Le nom de La Vraie Croix viendrait du fait qu'un chevalier de l'ordre des Hospitaliers de Saint Jean de Jérusalem revenant de croisade, rapportait un morceau de la vraie croix du Christ. Il se serait arrêté ici pour une nuit, le bourg portait alors le nom de "l'hospital". Le lendemain en repartant, il s'aperçut que son morceau de croix avait disparu. Fort malheureux, il repartit. On retrouva le morceau de la croix dans un nid de pie en haut d'une aubépine.
Les habitants le prirent, mais dés le lendemain le morceau était de retour dans le nid de la pie. Ils y virent alors un signe, et décidèrent d'élever une chapelle à l'endroit de l'arbre, afin d'y abriter la relique.
La Vraie-Croix est connue grâce au fleurissement, mené de pair par la commune et par les habitants, ce qui lui a valu de nombreux prix. En effet, cette commune a obtenu à plusieurs reprises le grand prix national du fleurissement, ainsi qu'un premier prix européen.
Depuis de nombreuses années, elle est récompensée par quatre fleurs (le maximum possible) et la distinction Grand Prix au concours des villes et villages fleuris.
La Fontaine :
Cette fontaine a la forme d'un petit oratoire, à section carrée, supporté par quatre colonnes cylindriques à base et chapiteau carrés. Les linteaux sont en anse de panier et supportent sur un entablement une pyramide coiffée d'une croix. À chaque angle est disposé un balustre à boule. Contrairement à l'habituelle niche avec statue, le mur du fond est décoré d'une scène de Crucifixion. The Village:
The name La Vraie-Croix (English: The True Cross) comes from a knight of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem who, returning from a crusade, carried with a fragment of the True Cross. He stopped in the town during this journey. He returned the next day and saw that the fragment had disappeared. The piece was subsequently found in a crow's nest on top of a hawthorn bush. The townspeople removed it, but the next day the fragment was back in the crow's nest. They saw it was a sign, and the people decided to build a chapel at the site of the tree to house the relic.
The Fountain:
The fountain is supported by 4 columns. In opposite to the traditional fountains that might represent a Special Saint, this one represents a scene of the crucifixion. In addition to the fountains there is a washing place where women used to come and wash their clothes. Nowadays there are still a few people doing it and washing it there (Mainly carpets)
