You can join the Great North walk from Manor road in Hornsby (look for post with arrow near Bush fire brigade trailer). From here you can descend down into the valley for a pleasant 20 mins bushwalk to Fishponds and the Berowra Creek.
Climb up The Stairway to Heaven because it's A Long way to the Top if you want to Rock and Roll.
