Fish Hoek Pentaptych Multi
Given coordinates are for the parking area. The cache, a small camo-taped sample tube, is hidden at the final coordinates.
I was alerted to this faded but still fine piece of artwork, which adorns the wall of a car park, by Jamie of family Behrens - for which many thanks!
This pentaptych (five-panelled artwork) depicts local scenes and the rich diversity of associated wildlife which should be familiar to most who have visited the Far South. Can you recognise them?
Step 1: The number of butterflies in the 2nd vertical 'window' (from the left) = A
Step 2: The number of penguins in the last vertical window on the right = B
Step 3: The alphanumeric value (A=1, B=2, C=3) of the 3rd letter of the short 4-letter name of the large black and white 'whale' in the middle panel = C
Step 4: The alphanumeric value of the 4th letter of the 7-letter name of the large white bird with the distinctive beak at the bottom left of the 2nd panel from the left = D
Step 5: The alphanumeric value of the last letter of the 8-letter name of the small creature at the bottom of the 1st vertical 'window' on the left = E
Step 6: The number of letters in the name of the mainly black bird standing on the rock on the left side of the 4th panel from the left = F
Use the values of A to F in the following formula to find the coordinates of the cache:
S 34 08.A(B-3)(C-1) E 18 25.(D-2)(E-3)(F-7)
As this is an open area, your biggest challenge will be to avoid the attention of muggles - so use suitable stealth counter-measures. Kindly ensure you replace the cache securely and properly concealed - thanks!
