This cache will take you to a unique view. Â If you come in from the south and get on the outer deer trail, you will see some cool and interesting things. Â From the north, you will see spectacular views as well. Â From the cache you might spot an interesting quarry or maybe landslide of black, shiny rock. Â There could be an old, small structure down the hill side. Â Some things to check out some day.
I was looking for a path to create a shortcut from Jacques Ridge to the Castillero trail somewhere near Bull Run. Â I followed trail for some distance but got spooked when I ran across a couple long dead deer bones. Â I was thinking I might be in prime hunting ground and though I was just 500' from a trail, they would be 500' of impossible to find my body. Â Â So, I worked my way back to Woods and came out near the rotary furnace. Â I took Castillero to Bull Run then took the service road a short distance then followed a well used animal trail I could see as I walked over some open space to the west. Â Â
The trail took me to a high point for this spot above the solar panels. Â I walked under some giant oak trees then to the edge of the hillside. Â I followed the hillside to the north for a while then walked down to an old road for a but. Â Eventually, I ended up just above a small oak tree that is on a small extension of the hillside. Â Â Just above there I found an iron rod survey marker. Â i was going to place the cache there but really liked the spot where the oak tree was. Â I went around the tree and came under the canopy from the far side. Â Â
