Geocache Description:

This cache was placed in (belated) celebration of Mango's 10th birthday! Mango and I enjoy hiking in this undiscovered gem of a park with her little brother Tomato (whose 5th birthday cache is nearby).

This is a rugged and undeveloped Ann Arbor city park. Trails are virtually nonexistent after the initial entrance path. You'll be traversing steep and uneven terrain, and clambering over and under fallen trees. But you'll get the feel of real wilderness and perhaps see some deer... The best way to the cache: figure out the general direction, and then follow the stream. This stream is a tributary of Miller's Creek. It was recently judged by naturalists to be the cleanest in all of Ann Arbor, as evidenced by the presence of multiple types of stoneflies, an indicator species that requires clean, cold water to survive. You'll notice sand and gravel along the stream, remnants of the glacial moraines lying underneath Ann Arbor that were formed when glaciers retreated at the end of the last Ice Age, roughly 10,000 to 16,000 years ago. Congrats to Tandembiker, FTF on a frigid 9-degree day!
