This cache was placed to celebrate our fifth anniversary of caching
Five years ago we bought a GPS and the salesman asked whether we would be using it for geocaching. We had no idea what he meant so he explained. It was hard to believe such a thing could exist, but we investigated it on the Internet and on the morning of the 15 January 2010 we wandered into the bush at Sassafras Gully to look for our first cache. At the time we had no idea that it was one of Australia's oldest caches by the The 2 Dogs, #22 !! A E I O U !!, or that this would be the beginning of a long association with geocaching. This is a picture of me that morning, taken by bikerbuddy, with our two sons who adopted the caching names Garks and NickoHeap:
We've met many new friends over this time, had many experiences and been to many places we wouldn't have been to without geocaching.
This cache is placed as an anniversary cache in rememberance of the last five years. We placed it in the bush as close as we reasonably could to our very first cache find. If, by chance, you haven't completed The 2 Dogs cache, the track to this cache will take you to within 25 metres of it. Five years later, this is a picture of Garks at the overhang where the cache is hidden:
The coordinates at the cache location are going to be problematic, since the cache is hidden in the overhang at the base of cliffs next to the track. Climb into the overhang and you should find the cache fairly easily at the end furthest from Springwood Congratulations to lobsterknees on their very first FTF- may there be many more in the future..
