An event at 1.59pm on 14th March 2015 at Teardrop Lakes
9.26 and 54 seconds on the morning of 14th March 2015 is a very important time for mathematicians, because the sequence of the date and time when written together forms 3.141592654, or pi to nine decimal places. Unfortunately I plan to still be in bed at that time, and I know a lot of other geocachers will be in a similar place (no not in my bed, behave!) or out running or have other plans for the morning of 14th March.
So I am planning this little get together on the afternoon of 14th March, at 1.59pm, or 3.14159, pi to five decimal places. As well as being a more sensible hour of the day, I know there are several cachers out there who will bring cake (or pies for the savoury fans) to have a little get together to mark the occasion, before going off and taking in the sights and sounds of Milton Keynes.
The event will start at 1.59pm prompt, by the main car park at Teardrop Lakes in Knowlhill, and run for fifteen minutes, or for as long as the cake lasts. In case of rain, sleet, snow or raining locusts the event will take place just a little bit further away at the reference point, which is in an underpass under the H6 Childs Way. The reference point is just off the Childs Way by the entrance to the underpass, just to make sure that no-one stands in the middle of the dual carriageway wondering where all the people are.
Everyone is welcome, including dogs, children and mad aunties. Newcomers will be made to feel especially welcome. Please bring pie, cake or something to share, and anything geek-related you care to admit to. I look forward to seeing you all on the day.
