The Hole in the Rock Traditional Geocache

To find this cache you will travel to one of the prettiest bays in Northland - Marsden Cove at the North Eastern end of Matapouri Bay.  The cache itself is a short walk from the beach at the old hole in the rock. This was a natural tunnel through the cliff and used to provide access to the Mermaid Pool but collapsed some years ago. For the adventurous there are great views from the hill behind the cache - but take care. At high tide you will need to wade around the rocks. 

Once you reach the beach at Marsden Cove its a short walk to the site of the cache. Follow the path up the little valley and when it forks at the end take the right path. The cache is at the very end of the path where the hole in the rock was before it collapsed. The cache can be seen from the end of the path of you look closely.
