Geocache Description:

The geocache should be a quick "cache and dash" and readily available to geocachers of all ages and abilities.

This geocache is placed in honor of the late Thurman Brisben of Fredericksburg who was a visionary woman and founder of what has become the nearby Thurman Brisben Center. A member of a local Episcopal church, Brisben was one of the "angels of mercy" from downtown Fredericksburg churches who banded together to start a local homeless shelter in 1987. Brisben was always there to listen to those in need, to counsel and to assist with job applications and helping individuals get necessary medical services. When she lost her battle with cancer, the center's board renamed the facility in her honor. The nearby center, using a "hands up," structured model, serves four local counties and the city of Fredericksburg and houses over 500 men, women and children per year.
