Geocache Description:

This is a series of P&Gs dedicated to our pets, past and present. BYOP.

David and Diamond were a pair of Namibian Webfooted Geckos that we got sometime back in the late 90s / early 2000s. These geckos are so rare and expensive that people usually had to mail order them -- yes, you can mail order geckos. They come overnight in a temperature controlled box. They cost about $100 per animal, so it's risky business. We also had a third one, Scout, but he didn't survive past the trip (it often causes shock). We tried breeding these two, we got a couple healthy ones out of it but mostly they didn't live. These two are probably siblings and that's probably the reason why. What makes these animals unique is that they dig in the sand and spend most of their day a couple inches below the surface. For that reason, you have to make sure the sand you use "clumps" so they can create burrows. It also requires daily sprayings with water to keep the structure sound. Be sure to check the gallery for other pictures.
