Geocache Description:

Welcome to the NYS Parks Saratoga - Capital Region winter series of caches located in three of our beautiful New York State Parks!  Say hello to the "2015 Winter 33"

Due to the success of the yearly Sara- Cap Geocache Challenge, plus feedback from cachers asking for winter friendly caches in your state parks, we have placed 33 caches along three easy loop trails in three very popular parks.  There are 9 new caches at Grafton Lakes State Park, 11 at Schodack Island State Park, and 13 within Moreau Lake State Park.  All caches are winter friendly and small dry match containers. Don’t forget to bring a writing utensil.  There are no big prizes, stamps to collect, or passport printouts, this is all just for fun giving people a reason to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful parks in the winter. Act fast because the “2015 Winter 33” caches will be archived just prior to the bigger 2015 NYS Parks Saratoga-Capital District Geocache Challenge kicking off on May 23rd.  The 2015 Challenge will have trackable coins available as well as great sponsor prizes!

The winter hours for these parks differ from park to park and are based on staff availability and the time for sunset, so please call first and plan accordingly!  It is advised that you start your journey early in the day because the caches will take you on a loop at each park. Don’t get yourself half way around at closing time!

At Moreau Lake State Park, check out the beautiful warming hut as you navigate the Green nature trail.  At Grafton Lakes State Park, you will enjoy a walk around a beautiful lake in a winter wonderland.  Finally at Schodack Island, enjoy views of the Hudson River and maybe spot an eagle in flight.  At all these parks, snowshoe rentals are available at the park offices.  Even if you don't need rentals, stop in to say hello or to pick up a park map.

We love feedback, so let us know how you liked this new series when you post your finds.  We appreciate your support of our "2015 Winter 33" park series, and Thank You for visiting your NY State Parks! Please visit www.nysparks.com and to like the individual parks on Facebook.
