Darren walks away from John Boy
The hit after the funeral
When Darren walked up to John Boy at his brothers funeral we all held our breath. With Hughie dead we wondered would things between John Boy and Darren ever get resolved? Previously the volatile Hughie had killed Darrens brother Robbie over a debt of 300 quid. When they met outside Morton’s pub in Firhouse at Hughie's funeral, there was tension. Both characters were grieving the loss of a brother.
Darren wanted to sympathise, leave Dublin and ensure the safety of his sister Mary. John Boy ranted about funeral customs elsewhere, dead bodies, vultures and pesticide. Yes it was certainly complicated and we were as baffled as Darren when he asked him if he "knew anything about that?" We all thought Darren was a gonner. Then a dodgy sense of unease took over when Darren walked away unscathed. Women all over Ireland breathed a sigh of relief. Relief was short lived however, cue a drive by. Stumpy fires at Darren on the nearby bridge. Dazzler goes down…is he gone for good?
