Tokyo Kousei Nenkin Kaikan (Koseinenkin Hall) has ended operations on March 31, 2010. It opened on April 15, 1961 as a welfare facilities and multi-purpose hall. (Photo from Wikipedia)
A number of performances was held because this was one of the few large-scale hall in the Shinjuku area. Opening performances was Hisaya Morishige, final performance was Chiharu Matsuyama (both Japanese singer).
I will talk of jazz because I love jazz. Miles Davis, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane made a live album here in Koseinenkin Hall. I shouted "Salt Peanuts" at the Japan tour of "SuperSax" band. I beleive my voice is recorded in that album. Sadly, this dreaming hall was demolished and became a parking lot in the 2015. I placed a cache in front of this place not to forget this facility.
There is a jazz club 80 meters ahead to east (Yotsuya direction). The musicians often want to play more jazz after the concert peformance is over. Then they visited that jazz club and did a gig because it is very close from the hall. You can see lots of photos there.

東京厚生年金会館はここ東京都新宿区新宿5丁目にあった厚生年金福祉施設＆多目的ホールで1961年4月15日ににオープンし2010年3月31日に営業を終了しました。（写真はWikipediaより） 当時から新宿エリアでは数少ない大規模ホールだったため数々の公演が行われていました。こけら落としの公演は森繁久彌、最終公演は松山千春でした。
私はジャズが大好きなのでジャズの話をします。ここはKoseinenkin Hallとしてジャズミュージシャンにも知れていてマイルス・デイビス、カウント・ベイシー、デュークエリントン、ジョン・コルトレーンなどの大物が出演しライブアルバムが作られています。スーパーサックスというバンドのジャパンツアーでMCのいソノてルオにそそのかされてみんなで「ソ・ピーナッツ」と叫んだのはいい思い出です。ちなみに「ソ・ピーナッツ」とはSalt Peanutsのことです。アルバムが出ているのでもしかしたら私の声も入っているかも。
四谷方向80メーターほどのところにはタモリが宣伝部長をしているジャズのライブハウスがありますがホールから極めて近いこともあって公演がはねたあとジャズをやり足らないというミュージシャンがたびたび訪問して、ジャムセッションをやっていてその写真がたくさん残っています。
悲しくもここ東京厚生年金会館は取り壊されて2015年時点で駐車場になっていてかつての夢の殿堂の面影は見られませんがこの施設を永遠に忘れないようキャッシュを置きました。ペンは入っていないのでお持ちください。
