Je odtiaľto krásny výhľad a prechádza po výdatnom obede niekde v plážovej reštaurácii padne každému určite vhod. :)
História tohto miesta siaha až do doby bronzovej a železnej, z ktorých sa tu zachovalo niekoľko kamenných kôp. Oblasť tiež spadala pod nadvládu Rimanov - bola tu dôležitá rímska základňa. Zachovali sa tu pozostatky rímskych stavieb (lokalita Crkvine), pohrebisko a fragmenty mincí z tejto doby.
V 10. storočí zmieňuje toto miesto byzantský cisár Konštantín Porfyrogennetos pod menom Lapčanj (Labinac). Prvá zmienka o Gradacu, ako o mestskej osade, pochádza až z roku 1649. Vtedy získal svoje terajšie meno - Gradac, a to podľa tvrze, hradu (chorvátsky "grad"), ktorý tu bol postavený počas tzv. Kandickej vojny v 17. storočí na obranu proti Turkom. Zrúcaniny hradu dnes ležia v starej osade nad magistrálou.
Počas 2. svetovej vojny bol Gradac veľmi zničený okupantmi. Uvádza sa, že až 95 % mesta bolo vypálené. Pamätník v obci je dielom sochára Antuna Augustinčića
