Baelen



Baelen (en wallon Bailou) est une commune francophone de Belgique située en Région wallonne dans la province de Liège.
La première mention écrite du nom de Bailus date de l'an 888.
Jusqu'à la fin de l'ancien régime, la commune faisait partie du duché de Limbourg et était le siège d'un des cinq tribunaux ducaux.
L'église Saint-Paul possède un clocher tors, Il tourne de droite à gauche, celui-ci fut construit vers 1545 sur une tour du XIIe siècle.

Baelen (Walloon Bailou) is a Belgian municipality located in the Walloon Region in the province of Liège.
The first written mention of Bailus dates from the year 888.
Until the end of the old regime, the town was part of the duchy of Limburg and was the seat of one of the five ducal courts.
Saint Paul church has a twisted tower, It runs from right to left, it was built around 1545 on a tower of the twelfth century.
