Meet a South African Geocacher Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Louise_Gerhard: Hi, I have to archive this event according to the rules. But the people I have met will be with me for a long time. Denmark is a country hard to forget. The people are friendly, patient and are not aggressive. For the first time in a long time I had the opportunity to walk around late at night without fear. Even in the bars we visited we had a great time. The caches we found had a reason for existence and each one of them showed us something. The caches were planted with great taste and it was great to find them. For all those that attended I wish you many more caches. Maybe we will meet again one day. Hopefully this time we will have more leisure time available. Thanks to everyone. Gerhard + Louise

Geocache Description:

Geocache Description:

Just a ordinary gathering for geocachers. We are from South Africa and visiting Denmark for work reasons. We will return on 8 February 2015. Our objective is to meet with some of the geocachers in this area. We hope to visit about 20 caches in this area – it all depends on the work requirements. We are passionate about geocaching. All of the cache hunts will be done by foot after hours so we are not sure if we will be successful or not. In South Africa it is not safe to caches after hours by foot so this will be something new to us. In matter of fact not even public parks are safe in South Africa. To visit South Africa it is recommended to make use of a geocacher guide, please feel free to contact me if you visit our country. We reside in Johannesburg. Pretoria is also close by. However, it will be good to see the face and person behind the cache hide in this area.

  • What: This is a foreign country for us and we are not sure how many cachers will attend this event and therfor we will make it an easy one. If there is a small group it will be possible to gather in the restaurant close by for a coffee. If the group is too big we will shake hands and introduce ourselves at “Pigen med Gaasen”. The official event will be short, about 15 minutes and it will be done. At 12h30 you need to be in the vicinity of the cache mentioned below. Please do not greet anyone. At 12h35 the event organizer will walk to cache GCRC8H, Pigen med Gaasen and he will place his left hand on the goose and he will raise his right hand holding a GPS. This will be the signal for the cachers to gather around the Lady with the goose. The logbook will then be opened. Cachers can then sign the book and a quick meeting will take place. I do have trackables with me so feel free to move them along. I will place them next to the logbook in a plastic bag. Please record the movement of any trackable in the logbook. I will forward an email to all attendees with the details of my trackables. My personal ones will not be with me. At 12h45 we will separate very quickly and everyone will go there own way.

  • When: 8 February 2015 at 12h30.

  • Where: Pigen med Gaasen, GCRC8H will be the center of the event. N 57° 02.854 E 9° 54.898.

  • How: To log the event you need to be there in person between 12h35 and 12h45. It is not a official requirement to enter your name in the logbook supplied at the event to log the event. However, your log in the book will be appreciated.

I also would like to use this opportunity to say thanks for the cachers that took the effort to stash some caches in this area. For example the web cam cache do not exist in South Africa and it will be good to log him. Louise and Gerhard
