Geocache Description:

This can be done as part of the caches around and near by or as a cache and dash. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON MAIN ROAD EXTREMELY BUSY. THE DIFFICULTY HAS BEEN INCREASED DUE TO ITS BUSY LOCATION. Not one for mini cachers or geo dogs.

There are 108 Village lock ups included on the national heritage list for England and of those only 5 including this one are grade ii listed. The goal was operational for less than 40 years between 1823 and 1860. Then it was passed to the illingworth and provident society and converted into a shop. This meant the shop was one of the first members of the co-opretive movement. The stocks date back to the 1600s.
