March 7th 2015

7:30am - 3pm

 

On March 7th 2015 we invite you to join us for a little friendly competition and hopefully a whole lot of fun. We challenge you to Find the Things! 25 Things scattered across the San Fernando Valley and 25 brand new shiny caches await you. To earn points you will not only find caches but take photos of the “Things” with your official photo bomber. Once the allotted time is up you will then join us for food, drinks, scoring and prizes at The Stand in Woodland Hills.

Teams will consist of a minimum of 2 people and will only be limited to the number of people your vehicle can legally hold. As only 20 teams will be approved, we ask that you submit your intent to join no later than February 28th 2015. Please log your team name and list of members on the event page as soon as possible, we’ll email you to confirm your spot. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person, proceeds go toward the cost of prizes and supplies.

YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT

Once 20 teams have registered, any additional teams who wish to play will be put on a waiting list and contacted if/when there may be an opening. Or if we take pity and add you to the event. Begging is encouraged, but not required. :)

 

You will need:

Digital camera with a removable sd card

GPSr

 

The Details

 

Registration: Check in will begin at 7:30am but it is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes early.

 

Upon check in your entire team will be required to read and sign a short waiver. Once signing is complete you will designate one person to wear a wristband for duration of the event. This person will be the Photo Bomber. The Photo Bomber will be required to be present, with wristband visible, in each photo to receive points.

Your Photo Bomber will then pick up your event packet that will contain all materials needed play.

 

Your objectives will be: 1)To identify, locate, and photograph as many Things as you can in the allotted time frame. Your designated Photo Bomber must be in each photo with wristband visible! 2)To find the new caches placed for this event, and write down the secret word found in or on each cache. This will include solving several puzzles.

 

Each team must take an actual picture of the “Thing”, a picture of a picture will not be accepted. Only one photo of each Thing is required. Points will only be awarded if the Thing and the Photo Bomber are clearly present in your photo. You may visit the Things in any order you wish.

 

Each new cache will contain an ftf card with the secret word written on it. To receive ftf points you must retrieve the card. A small envelope will be provided to store the cards you collect.

 

Points Schedule:

Photos:                          20 points

Caches:                         10 points

Ftf card:                         5 points

Completed puzzles:      10 points

 

 

All teams will be afforded ONE phone a friend hint to us. A phone number will be provided in the event packet. Your first hint is given without penalty. Any additional hints you choose to ask for will carry a ten point penalty.

 

The event close is scheduled for between 2pm and 3pm. Check in is as follows:

 

Upon arrival teams will check in at the “Time Desk” where your packet will be stamped and signed with your arrival time. You will then proceed to the back patio where you will hand over your packet (including you photo checklist, cache checklist with secret words, ftf cards, and puzzles) and ONE sd card. Only ONE card will be accepted for viewing so make sure you only use ONE device for your photos. Camera MUST have a removable SD card, no cell phone, tablet, or ipods will be accepted.

Your pictures will be viewed and your packets be evaluated for points.

 

Teams arriving between:

2:00 - 2:15pm will receive 20 points

2:15 - 2:30pm will receive 15 points

2:30 - 2:45pm will receive 10 points

2:45 - 3:00pm will receive 5 points

Teams arriving after 3:00pm will have 20 points deducted.

 

Awards to follow scoring.

 

Remember, this is a team event. Each team should stay together for the duration. Splitting up your team to do photos/find caches is not advocated. Have fun, but try to keep it fair!
